    1788 MAIL USED IN LONDON WITH WESTMINSTER OFFICE DOCKWRA TYPE 4a (L363a) AND 'SOLDEN' LONDON RECEIVERS HAND STAMP (L375). Good to fine letter used in London addressed to 'Mr Phillips, Bookseller, George Yard, Lombard Street' dated June 19th 1788 with strengthening along central fold. On reverse fair strike Westminster Office Dockwra larger type 4a (L363a)(PENNY at left) within 'W/TH' and fine strike 'SOLDEN' straight line hand stamp in black with post receivers name (L375). This receivers hand stamp recorded between 1788 and 1791, apparently this is the earliest recorded example. The writer is ordering a set of books instructing them to be sent 'by the Cuckfield Carrier...'. (Ref 128943).
