    SOMERTON (SOMERSET) EARLIEST KNOWN USAGE '720' BARRED NUMERAL ON WRAPPER DATED 6TH MAY 1844. Letter, some faults but mainly on reverse, from Street nr Glastonbury to 'Newman and Lyon, Attornies, Yeovil' clearly dated '5th of the 5th 1844', on front 1d (SG8) cut into at left but tied fine strike '720' barred numeral of Somerton. On front light strike 'No.2' receiver's hand stamp of Street and SOMERTON date stamp MY 6 1844. This cover is the earliest known use of the '720' barred numeral of Somerton. (Ref 128255).
