    MINEHEAD (SOMERSET) EARLIEST KNOWN USAGE '779' BARRED NUMERAL ON WRAPPER DATED 5TH JUNE 1844. Wrapper, slight soiling, from Minehead in Somerset to 'J. E. J. Riccard Esq. South Molton' with fine 1d (SG8) lettered BL with four close to large margins tied fine strike '779' barred numeral of Minehead. On front good to fine strike 'MINEHEAD/185' mileage mark in black (SO625). On reverse TAUNTON date stamp JU 5 1844 and SOUTH MOLTON date stamp JU 6 1844. This cover is the earliest known use of the '779' barred numeral of Minehead. (Ref 128254).
