Good large part wrapper from Stamford to a solicitor in Lincolns Inn London with post paid '6', the 2-3oz rate, on front fine strike STAMFORD date stamp AU 12 1840 and London PAID date stamp 13 AU 1840. A good example of the benefits of postal reform, a year earlier this letter would have cost 2/3d. (Ref 125621).
