Fine letter 'On Her Majestys Service' dated 2nd October 1845 'To the Secretary of the Admiralty, Admiralty London', posted unpaid with superb strike of the Portsmouth '2' hand stamp charge mark in black (HA1050). On reverse fine to very fine strike 'PORTSEA' udc in black (HA922) and PORTSMOUTH date stamp OC 2 1845. Writer is a 78 year old widow writing to the Admiralty requesting compensation for loss of income following the Dock Yard Improvement scheme. (Ref 121217).
