1826 MAIL USED WITHIN LONDON FROM THE 'HOUSE OF PEERS' (HOUSE OF LORDS) WITH 'H:P.' HAND STAMP (L560). Entire letter used in London dated April the 14th 1826, on front fine strike hand stamp '2' charge mark in black and fine strike of the first smaller type 'H:P.' hand stamp in red (L560), filing fold clear of both hand stamps. This 'H:P.' hand stamp was applied on mail received at The House of Lords and given this hand stamp before being passed on into the General Post. A rare hand stamp because MPs and Peers could use their free franking privilege thus avoiding postal charges. (Ref 126334).
