    1824 FREE MAIL MAIL DURHAM TO LONDON, REDIRECTED WITH FINE STRIKE BOXED 'TO BE DELIVERED/BY 10 SUND.MORN' HAND STAMP IN RED (L710). Fine letter from Durham dated March 25 1824 to 'The Revd. Dr. Clarke, Greenwich Park, Kent' redirected to 'Philemore Place, Kensington' sent free mail and countersigned at lower left. On front light strike 'In all' hand stamp and alongside light strike 'CROWN/FRE' date stamp and manuscript '5' charge. Also on front very fine strike large type '5' charge mark in black (L630). On reverse fine strike of the scarce boxed 'To be Delivered/by 10 Sund.Morn' hand stamp in red (L710). Unusual usage, unclear why charged '5'. (Ref 125341).
