Fine mourning envelope from Exeter to 'John Norris Esq, Solicitor, Marsden St, Manchester' with fine to very fine 1d ARCHER EXPERIMENTAL PERFORATION plate 98 (SG16b) lettered RB, tied neat strike '285' numeral of Exeter. On reverse fine strike 'Lympstone/Penny Post' hand stamp in black (DN888), 'EXETER' date stamp JA 4 1851 and 'MANCHESTER' date stamp JA 6 1851. Also fine used matching 1d imperf (SG8). A very clean and attractive Archer on cover used before the introduction of perforation in February 1854. (Ref 134878).
