A good used 1d Mulready wrapper, stereo A7 from Reading to 'Mifs Barrett, Torquay, Devon' cancelled fine strike red Maltese cross of Reading. On reverse good strike READING date stamp MY 17 1840, the second Sunday. Horizontal filing fold on front but an attractive example of this rare Sunday usage. Pencil manuscript on reverse 'Guaranteed to be from The Browning Collection...' Miss Barrett secretly married Robert Browning in 1845. (Ref 125126).
