Accompanied is a sworn affidavit from a surgeon in York dated 5th January 1897 stating 'Matthew Fallas... as consequence of an attack of gastric catarrh and deafness.. I am of the opinion.. it would be dangerous to attend at and serve as a Juror ...' A Jury Summons letter was liable to postage of 3d being 1d postage and 2d registration fee. (2 items). (Ref 145232).
