Wrapper from Malta to Livorno, Italy, part of address attempted removal with fine strip of three Die 2 1d pl.44 rose-red on white paper (SG40) lettered CG CH CI tied fair to good strikes 'M' cancellation of Malta, on front oval 'P.' handstamp in black. On reverse 'MALTA' date stamp SP 26 1857 and 'LIVORNO' date stamp 1 OTT 1857. 'CI' shows constant variety 'HORIZONTAL LINE BELOW 'C' SQUARE' (Wiggins). (Ref 145152).
