Good used 1867 10d red-brown plate one with the ERROR OF WATERMARK - EMBLEMS INSTEAD OF SPRAY OF ROSE (SG99) lettered KA with watermark very clear when viewed from reverse. Short perforations at left and very small closed tear at right, cancelled London 'S.E/11' numeral cancellation. One of the rarest surface printed stamps and this example one of thirteen known and recorded by Karl Louis and Bob Galland in their publication. Of these thirteen examples, nine are used in Constantinople, a solitary example in Scotland and this example one of three used in London. RPS Cert (1924) signed by John Wilson, keeper of the Royal Collection 1938-1969 and President of the R.P.S.L. 1934-1940 and 1949-1950. A rare opportunity to acquire this true rarity. (Ref 144961).
