Kilkenny to 'W J Curry Esq, 6 Old Palace Yard, London' 1d red plate 1b (SG7) lettered IJ touched at foot tied fine strike Piltown Maltese cross. Redirected within London to '36 Great Ormond St, Queen Square' with a second 1d red in the DEEP RED-BROWN shade (SG8a), touched several places cancelled fine black Maltese cross and tied from reverse. On front fine strike 'T.P/Charles St. Westr.' receiver's handstamp in blue (L505/CHRLW7b). On reverse 'PILTOWN' date stamp SE 17 1841, Dublin date stamp SE 18 41 and London date stamps 19 SP and 20 SP 1841. Rare usage with combination SG7 and SG8a. (Ref 144822).
