1841 LARGE PART WRAPPER ARBROATH TO EDINBURGH 1d RED PLATE ELEVEN (SG7) (RI) ARBROATH MALTESE CROSS. Large part wrapper Arbroath to Edinburgh fine 1d red plate eleven (SG7) lettered RI, four close to fine margins and tied fine strike Arbroath Maltese cross. On reverse 'ARBROATH' date stamp OC 25 1841 and Edinburhg OCT 26 1841. Penny red shows 7 o'clock ray flaw NE square SE square recut and tall 'I'. The Arbroath cross is one of the so called 'POST ROAD' from Arbroath to Stirling via Dundee and Perth all with a heavier outer line and a large inner cross. (Ref 144720).
