Fine enveope apparently from H.M.S. Bitterne at this time in Malta to 'Mefsrs. E A Seagrove and Co. Outfitters, 22 The Hard, Portsea, Hants' endorsed 'via Southampton' with two fine strips of three 1d pl.179 (SG43) lettered NB NC ND ans LI LJ LK cancelled London 'FB' cancellations. On reverse 'PORTSMOUTH' date stamp JU 4 77. Apparently mailed in May 1877 via the Ships Bag per 'P and O Assam' which left 25 5 77 arriving Southampton 3.6.77. Unusual. (Ref 144675).
