1839 MAIL TEMPLE, LONDON TO DAVENTRY, MISSENT TO NORTHAMPTON WITH 'MISSENT-TO/NORTHAMPTON' HANDSTAMP (NN142). Fine letter from Temple, London dated May 8th 1839 to 'E J Burton Esq, Daventry, Northampton', charged '8' and on reverse London date stamp 8 MY 1839. Letter evidently incorrectly addressed to 'Northampton' which has been crossed through, sent on to Daventry and on front fine to very fine strike 'MISSENTTO/NORTHAMPTON' handstamp in black (NN142). Letter references politics 'So the Downing Street Malefactors were Cancelled into enternity yesterday. They dies it appears as they lived hardened and impertent.... The Good Speaker has retired to, to be replaced it is said by that nice man Spring Rice...'. (Ref 144662).
