Fine envelope from Liverpool to a Bank Manager in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia with control 'W' corner pair with bisect of stamp at left well tied fine strikes 'LIVERPOOL' date stamps 15 DE 99. 1d lilac bisect understandably not accepted for postage with pencil 'O' underneath denoting not accepted and on front oval 'T 1D' tax mark and State of Victoria 1d postage due affixed and cancelled. On reverse 'MELBOURNE' date stamp 17 1 00. Corner stamp shows fine PLATE CRACK in marginal rule below stamp. Unusual usage. (Ref 144625).
