1842 2d BLUE STATIONERY ENVELOPE USED IN EXETER CANCELLED EXETER MALTESE CROSS AND PART 'EXETER' WESSEX TYPE DATE STAMP. Fine example of the very scarce to rare 2d blue postal stationery envelope in a DEEP SHADE used locally in Exeter addressed to 'H James Esq, Solicitor, Close, Exeter' cancelled with the usual indistinct strike Exeter Maltese cross in black and part strike 'EXETER' Wessex type date stamp FE 14 1842 with a second strike on reverse. Mike Jackson records only four other similar usages - 11th and 20th Feb 1842 overlapping as this, 23rd Feb with traveller date stamp and 20th July 1842 with Exeter date stamp clear of 2d.
