1841 PART PRINTED LETTER 'On Her Majesty's Service' 'War-Office' USED IN LONDON, REDIRECTED TO DEVON 1d (SG8). Fine part printed letter from the 'War Office' dated 6th April 1841 in respect of the addressee having overdrawn rations, provisions and forage whilst serving in Canada July/August 1838 and requesting repayment of 8s 8d. Letter addressed to 'Lieutenant Honble. J Colborne, 25th Regt, No. 68 Chester Square, Care of Messrs. Cox and Co, Printers' and then redirected to Yalmpton, Devon. 1d red affixed (SG8), touched at right otherwise good margins, lettered PC and tied several fine strike London Maltese cross. Also on front fine strike 'TP/Charles St.Westr' receiver's handstamp in blue (L505/CHRLW7b) and handstamp '1' charge mark. Unusual. (Ref 144490).
