1841 MAIL CALCUTTA TO LONDON 1d RED PL.5 (SG7) APPLIED IN U.K., REDIRECTED TO BATH. Fine letter with statement of account from Calcutta 15th January 1841 to 'Major W Warde, Care of Mefsrs. Coutts and Co London' with postal charge '2/8' and endorsed 'pr. Overland Mail via Suez and Marseilles'. Upon arrival in England redirected to Major Warde at Newton St, Loe, Bath with 1d red pl.5 (SG7) lettered KL paying redirection fee. Stamp cut into at right but tied fine to very fine strike black Maltese cross. On reverse 'CALCUTTA/STEAM LETTER/1911' handstamp and London date stamp 11 MR 1841. Very scarce usage. (Ref 144484).
