Fine envelope from Harting, Sussex to Brunswick Square, London with fine to very fine 2d blue pl.1 (SG5) lettered TD, four close to fine margins and tied fine strike red-orange Maltese cross. Postage underpaid with manuscript 'above 1 oz' and charged '2' to pay, also good strike London 'MORE TO PAY' double ring handstamp in black. On reverse fine strike 'Harting/Penny Post' handstamp in black (SX531) and 'PETERSFIELD' date stamp AU 14 1840. Harting within Sussex but its post town Petersfield within Hampshire. Very fine usage.
