1660 Proclamation by King Charles II dated 16th January 1660 'For Quieting the Poft-Mafter-General in the Execution of his Office'. It confirms Henry Bishop as the Poft-Mafter-General, confirming his monopoly and prohibits others from such activities. It also states Henry Bishop and his servants discharged from all services that may impede their service in office and that they will have and enjoy all privileges formerly granted.  It also instructs Sherffis, Constables etc to search for unlicensed Carriers and Meffengers, to seize such persons. A very rare original document relating to the formation of the General Letter Office. (Ref 144151)
