A good used example of the rare R W Hume caricature No.3 'ELEPHANT IN A KILT' from London to 'Mifs Watson, care of Mr J Bellinon, Mr Bastins, Chemist, Redruth, Cornwall', unfortunately stamp at upper left now missing. On front fine strike London double ring 'MORE TO PAY' circular handstamp, Caricature then redirected to Bodmin. Also on front manuscript charge of '2', two other manuscript charges of '4' and 'REDRUTH' date stamp AU 9 1841. On reverse 'PADDINGTON' date stamp 7 AU 1841. A rare usage and one of 22 examples recorded by Cassell and Hobbs. (Ref 143730).
