Fine entire letter from 'HMS Cornwallis at Sea' dated May 1 1844 written whilst between Calcutta and Madras to 'Mrs Armytage, Sandall, Wakefield, Yorkshire' endorsed 'By the overland Mail' and 'Via Southampton'. On front manuscript '11' paid and good strike 'INDIA' oval handstamp in red. On reverse fine strike boxed 'MADRAS/1844 May 11/Paid 10A' and 'WAKEFIELD' date stamp JY 10 1844. Fine usage.
