1795 LETTER ONLY FROM THE BISHOP OF BANGOR EXONERATING THE BANGOR POST OFFICE ABOUT A APPARENT MISLAID PACKAGE. Letter from John Warren, Bishop of Bangor (1783-1800) headed Bangor 15 Dec 1795 stating 'I received your obliging letter yesterday and I immediately sent for tht ePostmaster, who assured me that a Packet containing the Forms of Prayer came in the London-Bag, with the word Free written upon it, and that his Servant delivered it at the Registrar's Office to one of the Clerks, who being a very unprincipled man, made a charge of the Carriage in my account, in expectation that, a missed a variety of articles this would have passed unnoiced. I am extremely glad that the mans knavery has been detected, and your office cleared from imputation of neglect'. Ex John Cowell collection. (Ref 143661).
