Fine printed ballot paper in respect of 'British Asylum for Deaf and Dumb Females' sent from their office in Red Lion Square, London W.C. to a 'Mrs Howse, Woodbury Down, Stoke Newington' inviting the addressee to submit two votes from a list of seven candidates for admission to the Asylum. Wrapper slight peripheral faults but with fine 1/2d Bantam plate one (SG48) lettered KS tied very fine strike 'LONDON.N.W.' cds OC 1 70, FIRST DAY ISSUE of this 1/2d stamp. Wealthy benefactors of the Asylum were entitled to two votes as to whom should be admitted free entry for a three year education at the Asylum. All of the 1/2d First Day covers we have seen, few in number are from this correspondence. Rare. (Ref 143626).
