Fine to very fine used 1840 1d grey-black pl.1a (SG3) lettered CC, fine four margins, good plate wear, light strike red Maltese cross and clearly showing 5 and 10 p'clock ray flaws NW square also showing vertical guideline second 'C' square. Matched with fine to very fine 1d black pl.1b (SG2), fine margins, fine red Maltese cross and also showing guideline. Accompanied by fine 1d red pl.1b (SG7) lettered CC, on very blued paper, fine four margins and good strike black Maltese cross. Both plate 1b's show 7 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square.
