    1841 1D MULREADY 'CLERICAL, MEDICAL, AND GENERAL LIFE ASSURANCE' ADVERT, AT BOTTOM RIGHT 'WILLIAM RIDLER, Agent, BANK, CHELTENHAM' (SPEC MA112l) FROM CHELTENHAM WITH 'SALMON-PINK' MALTESE CROSS. Fine used 1d Mulready wrapper, stereo A243, Cheltenham to 'The National Provincial Bank of England, Dursley' with good strike of Cheltenham Maltese cross in a shade of 'salmon-pink' with matching Cheltenham date stamp JA 19 1841. Mike Jackson lists a number of Maltese crosses from Cheltenham between August 1840 and February 1841 in this shade or very similar. Within very fine printed advert 'Clerical, Medical, and General LIFE ASSURANCE SOCIETY' dated March 5th 1840 with three financial points and at bottom right 'can be obtained of WILLIAM RIDLER, Agent, BANK, CHELTENHAM' (Spec MA112l). Only three used examples of this advert recorded to date. (Ref 141767).
