Fine used 1d Mulready wrapper, stereo A249, slight fault from opening, from Edinburgh to 'J Napier Esq, Mifs Day, 14 Featherstone Buildings, Holborn, London' uprated with fine 1d grey-black pl.3 (SG3) lettered NG, four fine margins and tied fine red-orange Maltese cross of Edinburgh with additional strike on Britannia. On reverse Edinburgh date stamp DEC 21 1840 and London date stamp 23 DE 1840. Within fine printed advert 'CALEDONIAN INSURANCE COMPANY' (Spec MA105a), at bottom middle 'Extracts from the Life Tables'. A fine and rare usage with only one unused and four used examples of this advert recorded to date. (Ref 141765).
