1839 POSTAL REFORM, VERY RARE ORIGINAL CIRCULAR EX MERCANTILE COMMITTEE PROMOTING THE UNIFORM PENNY POST. A superb original printed circular letter dated 24th May 1839 sent in the name of Henry Cole, a very prominent postal reformer to such associations as a Chamber of Commerce asking them to support the campaign for Uniform Penny Postage. 'The London Mercantile Committee on Postage have directed me to request you to call the attention of your afsociation to the Subscription for promoting the Uniform Penny Post ....'. A very important and original document with few copies in existence this one ex. George Moffatt papers. (Ref 141347).
