1840 1D BLACK MATCHED PAIR PLATE 1A AND PLATE 1B LETTERED QL (SG2) PLATE 1B SHOWING 'NON-COINCIDENT RE-ENTRY' (SPEC AS5b). Fine used 1840 1d black plate 1a (SG2) lettered QL with four close to fine margins and cancelled very fine strike red Maltese cross and clearly showing 5 and 10 o'clock ray flaws NW square. Matched with a very fine plate 1b (SG2) also lettered QL, fine to large margins with fine strike red Maltese cross. The plate 1b shows 'NON-COINCIDENT RE-ENTRY' (Spec AS5b) noticeable in the NE square where the major rays are distorted. A superb matched pair. (2 items). (Ref 138419).
