1847 'LEGACY DUTY' MAIL LONDON TO ARKHOLME, KIRKBY LONSDALE, MISDIRECTED AND RE-DIRECTED TO LANCASTER. Fine printed 'Legacy Duty Department' letter from London to 'Mr Jas. Swindlehurst, Arkholme Melling, Kirkby Lonsdale' but incorrectly addressed with manuscript 'Misdirected to' and alongside fine strike 'KIRBY LONSDALE' date stamp SP 1 1847 and re-directed to 'Gunnerthwaite Lancaster'. On reverse good strike over flap 'HORNBY-LANC' udc in green (LA535) but Country Catalogue only records red usage in 1842-43. Fine usage. (Ref 138164).
