1848 MAIL LONGSIDE, ABERDEENSHIRE TO HELMSDALE, SUTHERLANDSHIRE WITH 'LONGSIDE' CIRCULAR HAND STAMP REVERSED 'N'. Envelope from Longside to 'Miss Gow, Helmsdale, Sutherlandshire' with 1d imperforate in the very scarce RED-ORANGE shade (Spec B2(4), cut into several places but fine example of the shade and tied '248' Scottish numeral of Mintlaw. On reverse very fine strike 'LONGSIDE' circular Scots local hand stamp type C1 in blue with 'N' reversed and 'MINTLAW' date stamp MR 18 1848. (Ref 134122).
