1713 MAIL LEDBURY, HEREFORDSHIRE TO LONDON WITHOUT PROVINCIAL HAND STAMP. Letter from Ledbury dated Nov 20 1713 'To The Reverend Mr Henry Newman in Bartlets Buildings, London' charged '4' and at top a manuscript 'symbolic feather' indicating the wish from the sender that the letter to travel 'post haste'. On reverse very fine strike London Bishop mark '23/NO'. Without provincial hand stamp, first Ledbury hand stamp is recorded from 1740. (Ref 131817).
