1856 MAIL HYTHE, KENT TO QUEBEC WITH 6D EMBOSSED (SG58). Envelope from Hythe to 'Lieut. Sandilands, Royal Artillery Barracks, Quebec, Canada' with 6d embossed (SG58), touched on two sides and cancelled light strike '398' numeral of Hythe. On front Liverpool 'L' date stamp SP 26 also hand stamp '2½' charge mark in black and 'd1' colonial charge mark. Stamp paying 6d ½ oz rate via Allan Line. (Ref 131557).
