1853-4 1D PL.163 MATCHED PAIR LETTERED BI IMPERF (SG8) STATE 1 AND PERF (SG17) STATE 2. A good to fine used horizontal pair 1853 1d pl.163 imperf (SG8) lettered BI BJ in STATE ONE OF THE PLATE with fine margins and showing slight plate wear. BJ corner crease but stamps cancelled neat Irish '449' of Wicklow and printed on VERY THIN PAPER. Matched with good used example from a very scarce S.C.16 printing (SG17) lettered BI in STATE 2 OF THE PLATE, centred slightly low but with fine perforations and additionally showing rare perforation encroachment upper corners. Latter cancelled '322' of Gravesend and showing State 2 characteristics NETWORKS AND VALUE RESTORED. Ex Folkard collection. (Ref 122465).
