1839 DORSET/'BLANDFORD PENNY POST' HAND STAMP (DT56). Fine large letter Sturminster to 'Charles Lewis Esqre West of England Insurance Office Exeter' dated 6 April 1839 and with higher postal charge '2/1' presumably due to enclosures of a doctor's death certificate and burial certificate. On front light strike boxed 'No.1' receiving house hand stamp of Sturminster Newton, on reverse fine strike 'BLANDFORD/AP 7 1839/PY POST' hand stamp in black (DT56). (Ref 119699).
