Fine wrapper sent free mail Wimborne to 'Thomas Martin Esq, Surgeon, Reigate' dated August 15 1839, on front manuscript '1' London Penny Post charge, also good strike 'Pay 1D only' hand stamp., under Free Franking privilege the London Penny Post charge still made. On reverse very fine strike 'Wimborne/Penny Post' hand stamp in black (DT733) slightly overstruck 'WIMBORNE' date stamp AU 15 1839. Apparently only two examples of the Wimborne Penny Post recorded to date. (Ref 111013).
