1857 MAIL MILBORNE PORT, DORSET TO WELLINGTON WITH 'MILLBOURN-PORT' UDC. Letter Milborne Port to 'Mefs. Fox Brothers and Co, Wellington, Somt' with good die 2 1d red-brown on blued paper (SG29) lettered DJ, several short perforations, tied fine strike of the rare '885' 3HOS numeral of Milborne Port. Parmenter records this numeral as G.P.O. only. On reverse fine strike 'MILLBOURN-PORT' udc in black with error of spelling and 'WELLINGTON' date stamp MR 24 1857. Milborne Port was a receiving house under Salisbury. (Ref 138950).
