1841 MAIL LONDON TO IBSTOCK WITH 'MISSENT-TO/LEICESTER/97' MILEAGE MARK IN RED (LC70). Large part wrapper, one flap missing from London to 'Mr. R Thirlby, Draper, Ibstock, near Leicester' dated 11th October 1841 with invoice in respect of velvet, cravats, taffeta etc. Postage paid with 1d pl.9 (SG7) lettered CK, touched at left otherwise good margins and cancelled black Maltese cross of London, tied from reverse. Stamp shows fine 'C' DOUBLE (Spec AS57c). Letter incorrectly addressed and on front good strike 'MISSENT-TO/LEICESTER/97' hand stamp in red (LC70), County Catalogue only records this hand stamp in black in 1858-1859, although it does list LC69 in red 1811-1816. On reverse LEICESTER date stamp OC 13 1841. (Ref 128669).
