    1830 MAIL PARIS TO LONDON APPARENTLY SENT 'DIPLOMATIC POUCH MAIL' WITH 'S.S.' HAND STAMP. Fine letter from Paris dated 30th August 1830, sent a month after the 'Bloodless Revolution' addressed to 'F. B. Robinson Esqr., 26 Efsex Street, Strand' and carried privately to London, believed via a diplomatic pouch and put into the post upon arrival. On reverse 'FPO' (Foreign Post Office) date stamp SE.4 1830 and charged '3/6' General Post. Also on front fine strike of an unrecorded 'S.S.' hand stamp in black thought to be linked to diplomatic pouch mail. Writer states 'Enclosed I send you a letter for Lord Cochrane which is of consequence - be so good as to hand it to him by a careful hand...'. (Ref 128107).
