On reverse 'ARBROATH' date stamp MY 31 1844, 'DUNDEE' date stamp JN 1 1844 and very fine strike 'MAE WEST' 'TOO LATE' handstamp. The Arbroath cross is one of the so called 'POST ROAD' crosses from Arbroath to Stirling via Dundee and Perth all with a heavier outer line and a large inner cross. Fine and attractive usage.
