Fine wrapper from Dumfries to 'Thomas Brown Esqr., Bank of Scotland, Castle Douglas' with fine 1d (SG8) lettered EB with four close to fine margins and tied fine strike smaller type Dumfries distinctive Maltese Cross. On reverse dated 7th November 1843. Mike Jackson records usage of this distinctive cross from 17th June 1843 to 19th June 1844. Also letter Dumfries to Dalbeattie with fine strike of the normal Dumfries Maltese Cross dated October 18th 1842. (2 items). (Ref 129537).
