VALENTINE 'THE PAST/THE FUTURE' ILLUSTRATED ENVELOPE PROOF OF PLATE IN RED. A very fine original proof circa 1855 in red, 190 x 128, on white wove paper printed by J Valentine of Dundee inscribed 'THE PAST/THE FUTURE' with scenes of destruction and war at left, at right scenes of peacefulness and rural life. Envelope believed produced following the Crimean War. (Ref 137765).
