CIRCA 1840 CONTEMPORARY REPRODUCTION OF SPOONER CARICATURE NO. 5 - THE 'POSTAL' ENVELOPE. A good to fine unused reproduction, circa 1840, printer unknown, of Spooner's Caricature No. 5 with Britannia armed for offence as well as defence and on each side are depicted the advantages of cheap postage, and the parcel post is predicted. Minor tone spot. Printed on soft white wove paper as used for the original caricatures, in a paler shade than the original. Without imprint at foot and inscribed 'No.1' on reverse. (Ref 109362).
