Circa 1884 envelope from Lincoln College, Oxford locally used in Oxford to 'J Bickerton Esq, Proctor, V .C.C.' with fine Lincoln College 1d blue (CS11) with usual manuscript pencil cancellation. On reverse fine embossed College imprint of arms in blue. The address is a reference to the Vice Chancellor's Court, if undergraduates were unable to pay their debts they were summonsed to appear before this court. Very fine and rare usage. (Ref 142472).
