1856 ORIGINAL POSTAL NOTICE RE 6D LILAC (SG68/70). A good to fine original postal notice dated 3rd October 1856 detailing 'NEW KIND OF SIXPENNY POSTAGE LABEL... ENCLOSED is a specimen of the new kind of Sixpenny Stamp, such as will in future, be issued by the Office of Inland Revenue, and by the General Post Office...'. Notice measures 154 x 235mm and with example of 6d deep lilac (SG69) overprinted 'SPECIMEN' affixed at top. Small part upper left corner missing and some creasing as always seen on these notices but a very rare survivor with few examples known. (Ref 139460).
