1838 MAIL BRENTFORD TO ANDOVER, CROSS POST WITH 'HOUNSLOW/PY.POST' HAND STAMP (L730). Letter from Brentford dated March 23rd 1838 to 'H Earl Esqr., Solicitor, Andover, Hants', charged '9' and on front fair strike 'Hounslow/Py.Post' hand stamp in black (L730). On reverse good strike 'BRENTFORD/EV' London Country Sorting Office date stamp (L522) MR 24 1838. Good example of the London cross post whereby letters were sent on the bye roads rather than via the London Central Office. (Ref 130211).
