    1771 'DW' LONDON GENERAL POST RECEIVER'S HAND STAMP OF DAVID WISHART OF COVENTRY STREET ON LETTER LONDON TO STAFFORDSHIRE. Letter from London to 'Thomas Mills Esqr., at Barlston near Stone, Staffordshire' dated June 14th 1771 and charged '4'. On reverse good to fine strike 'DW' circular hand stamp of the London General Post receiver David Wishart and London Bishop mark '14/JU'. Wishart, a tobacconist was also a General Post receiver at 24 Coventry Street and is know to have used this circular hand stamp from 1750 to circa 1780. Filing fold and soiling clear of  receiver's hand stamp. (Ref 129057).
