    1780 'PARTINGTON' LONDON GENERAL POST RECEIVER'S HAND STAMP OF RICHARD PARTINGTON OF HOLBORN ON LETTER LONDON TO MARGATE. Fine letter from London to 'Mefsieurs Coobb and Hooper, Margate' dated 31st Oct 1780 and charged '3'. On reverse fair strike over flap 'Partington' straight line hand stamp of the London General Post receiver Richard Partington also London Bishop mark '31/OC'. Richard Partington was a stationer at 58 Holborn Hill and also a General Post receiver who used this straight line hand stamp 1771 until 1782. The letter concerns the importation of a case of French artificial silk flowers from Belguim. (Ref 129049).
